Peaceful Paddles – Icebreakers for Kayaking and Canoeing Groups

August 23, 2024

Two Truths and a Paddle

To add a fun twist to your kayaking or canoeing group activities, try playing a game of ‘Two Truths and a Paddle.’ This icebreaker is a great way to get to know your fellow paddlers while enjoying time out on the water.

Share two truths

To start the game, each person takes a turn sharing two truths about themselves and one fabricated story related to paddling. For example, you could say that you have paddled on three different continents, rescued a stranded bird while kayaking, and that you once capsized in a river. The goal is to see if your group can guess which story is the lie!

Guess the lie

After each person shares their truths, the rest of the group takes turns guessing which story is the lie. You can have a lot of fun listening to each other’s tales and trying to figure out who is the best at bluffing. This game not only helps break the ice but also creates a sense of camaraderie among the paddling group.

Paddle Charades

The anticipation builds as you gear up for a fun round of Paddle Charades with your group. This exciting icebreaker will not only entertain but also enhance your paddling skills and teamwork. Get ready to dive into the world of acting out paddle-related scenarios!

Act out paddling scenarios

In this engaging activity, one member of your group will act out a specific paddling scenario without using any words while the rest of the group guesses what they are mimicking. Whether it’s navigating through rough waters, practicing a rescue maneuver, or simply enjoying a leisurely paddle, this game will have you laughing and bonding in no time.

Take turns guessing

Once a scenario has been successfully guessed or the time runs out, it’s the next person’s turn to showcase their acting skills. This rotation continues until everyone has had a chance to act out a scenario. Not only will you improve your communication and observational skills, but you’ll also learn more about each other’s paddling experiences and knowledge.
